MCIE developed this book to assist people who want to advocate for the full inclusion of a student with disabilities in his or her neighborhood school. These advocates are members of a school-based team (teachers, parents, administrators and advocates) who design special education services and supports that are individualized for a student with a disability. The book helps team members navigate the legal requirements necessary to fulfill their respective responsibilities. It contains a listing of suggested supplementary aids and services as well as excerpts from the IDEA and interpretations by the US Department of Education, the Office of Civil Rights and federal courts. * This book is available from MCIE. Our Library Listing We have a comprehensive library of printed material, funded by the Maryland State Department of Education.
